The Great River Road - Our Regions

Bicycle / Pedestrian Paths

Sometimes driving is overrated; get out and hit the trail for smooth rides, good vibes, and pretty scenery to boot. From Moline to Savanna, the Great River Trail’s separated path follows the Great River Road, getting you up close to the river’s quaint communities. The Galena River Trail rolls through the heart of this picturesque 1800s town and out into the countryside, long-haul riders can continue their journey by connecting to the Grand Illinois Trail. Even if you don’t have a bike, you can tour Quincy with a free rental from the local visitors bureau. In Madison County, the extensive inter-connected system of bikeways extends for more than 130 miles and is one of the best in the nation. From canopied strolls to riverside rides, these trails are a great way to experience the byway.
