The mansion was once the home of Quincy’s founder, and 12th governor of Illinois, John Wood. The home is recognized as one of the Midwest’s finest existing examples of Greek revival architecture. The 14-room mansion was built in 1835 and contains many original Wood family furnishings. A museum, 1835 pioneer log cabin, and Lincoln gallery are also located on the grounds.
