The oldest church west of the Allegheny Mountains is home to the oldest continuous Catholic Parish in the United States. The first church, built in 1699, burnt down in 1740. The current church was built in 1799 from logs salvaged from the original church. It is one of only five remaining churches built in the French Colonial, upright log style.
