Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park is a 104.5-mile linear park that travels all the way from the Illinois River near Bureau Junction to the Mississippi River. The towpath offers 155 miles of hiking and biking, with 48 miles open for horseback riding. Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park has the 91 miles of trails open for snowmobiling, the longest snowmobile trail in the state. Visitors can boat or canoe the canal, however the locks are not operational. Fishing in the canal is plentiful, especially for bluegill, crappie, walleye, and bass. Nine Class-C campgrounds can be found along the canal and are suitable for tent or RV camping. Trapping and hunting, for deer, dove, and turkey, are allowed in the park.
