Bird Watching/Wildlife Viewing

The Mississippi Flyway is a major migration route for birds that extends along the Mississippi River's watershed. According to the Audubon Society, half of North America's bird species and about 40 percent of its waterfowl spend at least part of their lives along the Flyway. Recreation areas along the byway also offer the chance to view the local wildlife including deer, and other small mammals. Whether you're out to see Bald Eagles in the winter or Pelicans in the spring, or the vast amount of other birds and mammals that call the area home, the byway offers bird and wildlife enthusiasts of all ages the chance see them up close in their natural habitat.
